The Coptic Orthodox Church, also known as the Church of Alexandria, holds the distinction of being one of the ancient Apostolic churches with roots dating back to the earliest days of Christianity. Our beautiful Church is one of the original five Apostolic Church; Jerusalem, Alexandria, Rome, Antioch, and Constantinople, the Church of Alexandria was founded around 61 A.D by Saint Mark the Evangelist, who authored the Gospel of Mark. Saint Mark was the first Patriarch of the Church of Alexandria and was martyred in the year 68 A.D
